Thailand Entry Requirements 2025 – What You Need to Know

Thailand remains one of the most popular destinations for German-speaking travelers – with tropical beaches, delicious food, and warm hospitality. However, since May 2025, new entry regulations apply. In this post, you’ll learn how to prepare for your trip: from visa-free entry to the new digital arrival card (TDAC).

Visa-Free Entry: Extended Stay for Many Nationalities Since May 2025

As of May 1, 2025, citizens from many countries – including most of Europe, North America, and parts of Asia – can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days, regardless of whether they arrive by air, land, or sea. This is an extension from the previous 30-day limit.

Important Notes:

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival.
  • Proof of a return or onward ticket may be required.
  • A one-time 30-day extension can be applied for at a local immigration office, allowing a total stay of up to 90 days.

⚠️ Note: Thai immigration authorities are currently reviewing this regulation. It may be changed or shortened in the future (status as of May 2025).

Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): Mandatory Since 01.05.2025

As of May 2025, the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) has replaced the old TM6 paper form. The form must be completed online no later than 3 days before entry.

What You’ll Need:

  • Personal and passport information
  • Accommodation details & length of stay
  • A short health declaration

After completing the form, you’ll receive a QR code, which must be presented upon arrival. Entry is not permitted without a valid TDAC!

Proof of Financial Means

At the border, you may be asked to show proof of sufficient funds for your stay. As a guideline, at least 20,000 THB (approx. €540) per person is required.

Tip:
Bring a recent bank statement or a credit card with sufficient available funds – digital or printed.

Tourist Visas & Long-Stay Options

If you plan to stay longer than 60 days or re-enter Thailand multiple times, you can apply for a visa:

  • Tourist Visa (TR):
60 days stay, extendable by 30 days
  • Destination Thailand Visa (DTV):
Up to 180 days per stay, valid for 5 years
  • Thailand Elite Visa:
Premium visa for 5–20 years, including VIP services

Applications must be submitted online in advance – especially useful for digital nomads, long-term visitors, or frequent Thailand travelers.

Conclusion

Thailand is making travel easier – and more digital – in 2025. If you complete your arrival card in time and follow the new rules, nothing stands in the way of your dream vacation. And once you’re here – we’ll take care of the rest!
